Prism & Complimentary

A little bit of color just makes everyone happier.

Prism by artist Mateus Manhanini delivers color and happiness in abundance. Through different colors, textures, shapes, and sizes, this piece for ‘Designed with LOVE’ brings some smiles and love when we all need it most.

Prism makes an analogy to the diversity of bodies, colors, cultures, shapes and features. The vibrant colors create an ensemble that intertwines with overlapping areas where new tones and colors emerge – making the art piece richer, brighter, and alive. This shows the power of diversity and unity: there is nothing stronger than our alliance as fellow humans.

Together we are able to achieve goals we didn't realize were possible and reach farther beyond our own limits.

Complementary is about the representation of love in small gestures. When time stops and we find our refuge in the arms of our loved ones – it's about affection, tenderness, security, and, of course, love.

With his vibrant mixed style of traditional, expressionism, and pop art, this design is colorful and lively. Mateus has a powerful way of brightening our moods through his eye-catching artwork and colors. In color theory, harmony can be achieved in several ways with our favorite in the use of complementary colors. When two colors are opposite in the chromatic circle, they are the greatest contrast to each other. As the saying goes, "opposites attract".

We're partial to the use of complementary colors done well. Using complementary colors creates a significant impact on the artwork and, at the same time, balances the whole piece.

With the warm and the cool color palette coming together, it's like connecting two pieces that fit perfectly into a puzzle with infinite possibilities. And what is a hug from a loved one if not the perfect fit?

Mateus is an Architecture and Urbanism student at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, as well as a freelance illustrator and comic colorist, from Brazil. He imagines life as a mosaic of colors and texture, and art is a game with the pieces of this mosaic – where you test fittings and create new things. Most of his inspirations come from vibrant styles in Traditional Art like Expressionism and Pop Art mixed with the experimental approach from Digital Art, especially concept art from games.
